Another King James Bible Believer

Harold Eberle, Clown Bible Corrector - Answering Another Silly anti KJB Video.

Harold Eberle, Clown Bible Corrector - Answering Another Silly anti KJB Video.

There is a modern Vatican Version promoting “bible scholar” named Harold Eberle who has one of the dumbest and most misinformed anti King James Bible videos I have seen in a long time.  It is even ironically titled  “Living and Dying with the King James Bible.”

If you can stomach it, you can see this 9 minute video here -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDs0HUR1wxM&feature=youtu.be

It is packed with such outrageous lies and misinformation, that it was hard for me to remain seated while watching the drivel this man spews out.

Like most bible agnostics, he starts out with “high praise” for how the King James Bible is “a gift from God” and how it was wonderfully used for 400 years.  He tells us that “it became the Standard of Protestant Christianity and it stabilized Christianity for 400 years”. (And he is right).

Then he starts with the criticisms. He says “However, today there are a lot of modern translations. Should we be using them or not?  That’s the issue we are addressing.”

He tells us that the man king James had an agenda.  Mr. Eberle says that king James “overemphasized predestination and he overemphasized the wickedness of humanity”!!!  Yet these same truths are found even in today’s new Vatican Versions this man likes so much.

He goes on to tell us that the king wanted to use the old ecclesiastical words like “church”, and that he didn’t want it to be translated as “congregation”.

Well, Duh. Not even the modern versions Mr. Eberle seems to promote translate the word ekklesia as “congregation” but as “church”!

See my article - “Is the word “church” wrong in the King James Bible?”

Some of the outrageous comments this self appointed “expert” comes out with are things like “Today there is no question about what is actually in the original writings.”

Yet, this man couldn’t show you what was in the original writings if his life depended on it, and he knows he can’t.  What he is in fact promoting is the ever changing UBS (United Bible Society)/Nestle-Aland/Vatican Critical Greek texts.

Then he tells an unbelievable whopper of a lie when he says the King James Bible was translated from only 6 Greek manuscripts, and that today they are using over 4000 manuscripts for the modern translations.

The truth of the matter is that the KJB translators used many Greek manuscripts, plus the Greek texts of Beza, Stephanus as well as Erasmus, and they compared several foreign language bibles as well.  Most Greek manuscripts discovered since 1611 have only confirmed the readings found in the Reformation bibles.

Today’s modern Vatican Versions are in fact primarily rejecting the majority of Greek manuscripts in favor of 2 so called “oldest and best”, which are in fact among the very worst corruptions known to man.

See “The so called oldest and best manuscripts, and what they are really like” here -

Anything translated from these texts (that omit anywhere from 3000 to 5000 words from the New Testament, and reject numerous Hebrew readings, and add hundreds of words to the Hebrew O.T. from the so called Greek Septuagint) is one of the new Vatican Versions.

These include versions like the ESV, NIV, NASB, NET, Holman Standard, the modern Catholic versions and the Jehovah Witness New World Translation.

This is an artificially created “inter confessional” text that is under the direct supervision of the Vatican.  Don’t believe it?  Here is the documented proof from right out of the Nestle-Aland Greek textbook and the Vatican’s own website.

Undeniable Proof the ESV, NIV, NASB, Holman Standard, NET etc. are  the new "Vatican Versions"

Our Modern Version expert also seems to have a problem with the word “HELL” in the King James Bible. He tells us that the KJB mistranslated the word Hades as Hell.

He even goes on to say that the “world view” at the time of the King James Bible was one of “God fighting Satan, a world filled with demons, and God warring against these demons. That was the world view of that time…a Bible world view, a world view that was not entirely biblical.  That’s what I want to caution you about.”

Well, I have news for this clown. That IS the true spiritual battle that is going on today and has been since the fall of Lucifer and the entrance of sin into this fallen world. See Ephesians 6:10-18 in ANY Bible.

This man seems to have a problem with God fighting Satan, hell and the wickedness of human nature. Small wonder then that he is opposed to the only Bible believed by thousands of blood bought saints of God even today to be the only, true, inspired and inerrant words of the living God.

The doctrine of hell is definitely being toned down and air conditioned in many modern versions, but even they can’t seem to get their act together on how to translate these words.

Hebrews 13:7 and 17 “THEM THAT HAVE THE RULE OVER YOU”

One of the many blunders this man commits is that he tells us the verses in Hebrews 13:7 and 17 were mistranslated as “those that have the rule over you.”

He tells us it that it really says “in the original Greek”  to oversee, and not “to have the rule over”.

The man if flat out wrong. The word translated at “to take the oversight”  or as “overseers” is # 1983 episkopeo, and # 1985 episkopos, respectively.

And this word is used in 1 Peter 5:2 where we read - “Feed the flock of God which is among you, TAKING THE OVERSIGHT (επισκοπουντες) thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind.”

But the Greek word used in Hebrews is not at all the same word as “to take the oversight”. Not even the new Vatican Versions this man promotes translate Hebrews 13:7 and 17 as “to oversee”.

The word used in both Hebrews 13:7 and 17 is a completely different word.  It is # 2233 heegeomai. (τοις ηγουμενοις )  And it is translated as “Governor” in Matthew 2:6 “there shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.”

It is also translated as “governor” in Acts 7:10 “he made him (Joseph) GOVERNOR over Egypt”.

It is also translated as “chief” in Acts 14:12 “the chief speaker” and in Acts 15:22 “chief men among the brethren”.

Let’s look at other Bible translations to see how they have translated Hebrews 13:7 and 17 to see if there is any merit at all to Mr. Eberle’s assertions that it should be translated as “those who OVERSEE you”

Hebrews 13:17 “Obey THEM THAT HAVE THE RULE OVER you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.”

Not only does the KJB say “THEM THAT HAVE THE RULE OVER YOU” but so do the following Bible translations - Whiston’s N.T. 1745, John Wesley’s N.T. 1755, Webster’s Bible 1833, the Revised Version 1885 - “OBEY THEM THAT HAVE THE RULE OVER YOU”, the ASV 1901, the NKJV 1982 - “OBEY THOSE WHO RULE OVER YOU, and be submissive”, the KJV 21st Century Version 1994, The Third Millennium Bible 1998, The Evidence Bible 2003, Updated Bible Version 2004, World English Bible, Hebrew Names Version, Sacred Scriptures Family of Yah 2001, Bond Slave Version 2009, Context Group Version 2007, Hebraic Transliteration Scripture 2010 and the New European Version 2010.

Mr. Harold Eberle is clearly a man who has made his own mind and personal preferences his “final authority”. He has NO inerrant Bible to believe in himself or to give to anybody else.

Maybe he is working on his own peculiar “bible” version and sometime in the future he will provide us with an inspired and inerrant bible, that will tone down that ancient world view of God fighting against Satan and his demons, the reality of a literal Hell and the wickedness of mankind.  Ya think?

The King James Bible is right, as always. Don’t let the Clowns take it from you.

All of grace, believing The Book - the King James Holy Bible. Something that is truly worth Living and Dying for.
